Peer Support Trainer – South east Cornwall

To deliver Open College Network Accredited Training for volunteer mums in Cornwall. Training courses run for six sessions of 2 hours and require some time setting up and preparing for the sessions and marking students work. This post will require the introduction of the assessment element to Peer Support Training and will enable peer supporters in Cornwall to meet the guidelines as set by NICE.
This exciting new role will increase the capacity of the Real Baby Milk training team and fill gaps in the current training schedule. The RBM training is a 6 week session which covers all aspects of being a peer supporter, the sorts of breastfeeding information and support that should be given and also how to be effective in a peer support group setting. Time and days could vary from course to course according to venue availability and needs of women in each area.


Post 6 month contract - 1 month induction - 5 months delivering training

Schools Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to build on past projects and engage with schools to work on a local level towards changing attitudes towards breastfeeding and seek to address the gap that exists in the National Curriculum with regard to infant feeding. The role will require a high degree of networking and engagement and will require someone who has the ability to work with statutory partners as well as volunteers across the county. A special approach is required for this piece of work as it involves working with organisations who do not view breastfeeding as a priority. Admin support is provided by the RBM office and additional support and resources available to support the role. This is a short term contract which is being funded by the Local Area Agreement.

Post One day per week (8 hours) based at the Bodmin Office (6month contract)
